Well, I’ve officially got 4 weeks of homeschooling under my belt! Wow – time flies, huh? I get asked all the time how things are going, and I don’t know if it’s just my insides that light up when I talk about homeschooling or if people can actually see the glow… 🙂
But I just love it. I never expected to be so, so excited and passionate about it so quickly. I. LOVE. IT. Somehow, homeschooling allows me to enjoy my job as a mom even more than before! I love watching them grow and learn. Plus, we’ve got more structure, better routines and less boredom – which means the boys are always busy and they have less time to complain or bicker with each other.
It has helped so much that I’ve created a great schedule for us – and that we actually stick to it. That’s the key! It’s not enough to have a cute chevron day planner or to have your schedule taped to your bathroom mirror. Both are great, but that’s not enough. You have to actually follow through and stick to it. Maybe you’re not quite in the groove yet and could use a daily schedule to help you stay on track. I’d love to share mine with you!
You can see that our schedule doesn’t have any times – just morning and afternoon. That’s because unless we have scheduled appointments, lessons, or classes out of the home, I avoid strict time slots for our tasks and activities. Instead, I find that our day goes much more smoothly if we just have things split up into morning and afternoon slots. This allows us some flexibility to adjust things as the day goes along. We still have a daily schedule, but I don’t have to cringe if I check my watch and see we’re running 8 minutes behind. 😉

Hope you have a wonderful (and productive) day!
