Valentine’s Week is in full swing! So I felt it was only right to share another chocolate recipe with you 🙂 I guess you could say that this recipe for a smoothie version of Chocolate-Covered Strawberries is my Chocolate-dipped, Candied Bacon’s alter-ego…
So much so that my bacon-loving husband wasn’t a fan of this smoothie. He didn’t hurt my feelings though… I just drank his! And honestly, I probably could have devoured 4 more – I thought this smoothie was delicious!
Now one thing I will say is that when I first made this recipe (for my husband) I did not include the banana. I was trying to save a few calories I guess 🙂 but that was a mistake! This unsweetened cocoa powder I used in this recipe really needs that extra sweetness from the banana.
To make this Chocolate-covered Strawberry Smoothie you will need:
1/3 cup yogurt of your choice (I used Trader Joe’s European style whole milk plain)
1/3 cup milk of your choice (I used unsweetened coconut milk)
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup baby spinach leaves
1/2 large banana or 1 small one (not pictured because it was a last minute addition)
1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 tablespoon of honey
Here’s what you do:
Add all the ingredients to the blender and give it a whir for a good 2-3 minutes until it is creamy and smooth. I always add the milk last to help everything blend together more smoothly. Every blender is different – feel free to add more milk if you need it to get things going.
Hope you enjoy this recipe!
